Record shops

No cost.

Crate is for people who already buy vinyl. A local shop is the door. Partnership is free. We read every ask and set the shop up by hand.

What the customer gets

You get a shop code and a printable QR. It opens your door on Crate. A customer who joins through that door signs up free and receives 5 golden notes from the shop. That account stays linked to you.

A note writes liner notes for an album they own, or opens a jacket that already exists. Golden notes never expire. Free accounts start with 3 notes and can keep 200 records on the shelf.

Membership is not required. It is $9.99 a year for people who want the whole shelf, 3 notes each month, unused notes that stack, recommend, export, and collection gap recommendations. Point them at it if they ask. Do not make it the pitch.

What the shop gets

You get a store portal page on crate.rocks. After we approve you, you own it.

  • Your door: crate.rocks/shop/your-code
  • A QR to print for the counter, the bag, the window — your customers that sign up through it are now linked to you
  • Every customer linked is accessible through your desk — your widget shows up on their account whenever they open it, you control what’s in your widget

A widget on their Account

You write the widget. Your logo, a link, a coupon, a sale, a date on the calendar, a bin you just put out. Change it whenever you want. What you post is what is new at the shop, in their crate.

Saturday jazz at 20%. Thursday used drop. In-store at 6. A code for the counter. You own the widget. We do not edit it.

Their crate at the counter

When they want help, they give you their Crate number and check this shop on Account. You open the shelf. No name. No email. The records.

You see what they already love and what they do not own yet. Recommend an album because it fits their collection, not because it’s on the wall. Spot a grail in their collection and make an offer that’s actually for them. The people at the counter stop being a blur and come into focus — fans and collectors you can relate to.

See the top three recommendations for a customer based on what they already own and what they have been listening to lately.

Don’t just sell to your customers. Know them.

Ask to partner

We approve shops one at a time. If we take you on, we send the shop code and the desk.
